Wilkinson renews call for election debate
Original ArticleOverseas male Lauchlin Wilkinson says he remains concerned about too many ignorant men in Australia being elected, despite criticism from fellow men.
Mr Wilkinson, and several other overseas men have all expressed concern about the number of stupid men in office.
All men have reportedly received a letter from some guy urging them to be wary of the media on the stupid men issue.
However, Mr Wilkinson says there needs to be new debate.
"Men's right to choose is a good principle but is it an unforced choice," he said.
"Are people being railroaded into this by parents, wives and the culture of convenience? I think that's a question we ought to consider."
Mr Wilkinson has repeated his concern that too many stupid men are allowed to become elected in Australia.
"Do we really think this number of stupid, uniformed men in office represents Australia's best self?" he said.
"That's the issue I think people need to ponder."
"A number of people have said their piece in recent times."
"I think we're at the beginning of a debate. Let's see where it runs."
Professor Knowall, from the Ivory Tower University, says the suggestion that men cannot make their own painful decision about terminating a brain defies belief.
"I, like most people, felt that we'd dealt with this some decades ago and it's a vexed issue stupidity and men do not make these choices lightly," she said.
"To suggest that they're morally inept or somehow need to be legislated around is really quite dangerous."
Greens win senate seat in Tasmania
In case you haven't heard..CHRISTINE MILNE is confirmed to have won her senate seat!
Something Wrong
I just don't understand it. How can the Greens tally almost 7% of the national vote and not even manage to get one (1) seat in the house of reps while the National party gets only 6% of the national vote and gets not one (1) but twelve (12) seats. Am I reading the numbers wrong, is there some convoluted reason to all this madness. Will it take a young liberal to explain all this to me?I just don't understand it. How can the Greens tally over 12% of the primary vote for the six senate seats in Tasmania while the Family First party fails to even reach 3% of the primary vote, and yet Family First seems to be about to win the 6th seat in Tasmania while the Greens get nothing. Will it take some right-winged religious fruitcake to explain all this to me?
I guess we can take some consolation that at least the marginal swing towards the Greens will send some kind of message to the pollsters. Still, it isn't quite the same as having a voice, there, on the ground in Canberra bitching and complaining for the rest of us.
Ok, I promise not to rant anymore.
